Snead State signs 13 recruits to softball program

Thirteen high school recruits have signed their National Letter of Intent to play softball at Snead State Community College for the Lady Parsons next season.

Twelve of the 13 recruits hail from the state of Alabama.

Campbell Adams, C, Ragland HS, Ragland, Ala.

Academic Achievements: A, B Honor Roll

Athletic Achievements: All-State, All-County, All-Area and Team Captain

Community/Church Service: Involved with her local church.

Sarah Bowling, P/UTL, Hartselle HS, Hartselle, Ala.

Academic Achievements: Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Co-Captain of FCA, highest GPA on the softball team, and Honors Diploma

Athletic Achievements: Varsity Athletics, finished Top-15 in the state for ERA pitching, and went 10-0 pitching for the 2021-2022 high school season.

Community/Church Service: Attends Life Church and is a student leader in the youth ministry; participates with sorority AZS at Hartselle where the focus is on philanthropy; volunteers 20-plus hours of service per semester for National Honors Society.

Lexi Brewer, SS/2B, Ider HS, Henagar, Ala.

Academic Achievements: 4.0 GPA, senior Beta Club member, Geometry Certificate of Honor Award

Athletic Achievements: 2022 Softball Infield Award, 2021 Softball Defensive MVP/Hornets Golden Arm Award, 2021-2022 Volleyball Most Blocks Award; 2020-2021 Volleyball All-County, Most Aces, Most Improved Blocker, 26% Digs to Target, 15% Kill Ratio; 2018-2019 Cross Country Girls MVP, DeKalb County Champion

Community/Church Service: Member of Trinity Methodist Church

Hayven Bunkley, 1B, Liberty County HS, Bristol, Fla.

Academic Achievements: 3.7 GPA, All-Academic Team

Athletic Achievements: All-State, All-District, Regional Champs, Defensive Player of the Year, MVP Award

Allie Graydon, SS/2B, Helena HS, Helena, Ala.

Academic Achievements: National Honors Society, Rho Kappa, Science National Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, English National Honor Society, and Spanish National Honors Society.

Athletic Achievements: All-County, All-Area , 2022 AHSAA 6A State Runners-Up, 2021 AHSAA 6A fourth place finishers

Community/Church Service: First Baptist Church of Pelham, VBS Volunteer,

Ella Grace Hood, P/3B, Sand Rock HS, Collinsville, Ala.

Academic Achievements: Beta Club member, Honor Student, Top-20 of Class

Athletic Achievements: All-State, All-Area, All-County, Highest Batting Average, Most RBIs, Team Captain and listed in the Alabama State Record Book

Community/Church Service: Member of Church of the Highlands-Gadsden; Chairman of Future Business Leaders of America; Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America; Sand Rock Leo Club; FCA; Veterans Day Program volunteer; Canned Food Drive volunteer.

Reece Patterson, P/OF, Cedar Bluff, Centre, Ala.

Academic Achievements: 4.0 GPA, Beta Club, Principal's Honor Roll, Highest Averages in Physics, Chemistry, Math and English

Athletic Achievements: All-State, three-time All-County and All-Area, two-time Silver Slugger Award winner

Community/Church Service: Active member of First Baptist Church of Centre, volunteers with VBS, mission trips, helped with youth All-Star softball team.

Mackinley Portillo, P/C, Douglas HS, Horton, Ala.

Academic Achievements: Honor Marshall, Top-10 Percent, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta

Athletic Achievements: AL.com Female Athlete of the Week, ExtraInningsSoftball.com Runner-Up National Player of the Week, All-State, three-time All-County, two-time All-Area, MaxPreps No. 3 in the nation, No. 2 in the state for most strikeouts, No. 2 in the state for the most no-hitters, No. 6 in the state for best ERA.

Leah Swafford, SS/2B, Pell City HS, Cropwell, Ala.
